It is hardest for a chess player to find the best move in a game. The hardest for the Chess Informant team is to find 1000 best games among 50 000. Fortunately, we are not alone. The contributors of Chess Informant are the chess players from the whole world. Of 24 first players from the latest FIDE Rating list, 23 annotate their games in the volume 80 (Kasparov, Kramnik, Anand, Adams, Leko, Morozevich, Shirov, Ivanchuk, Gelfand, Bareev, Svidler, M. Gurevich, Kasimdzhanov, Smirin, Khalifman, Dreev, Van Wely, Karpov, Ponomariov, Bologan, K. Georgiev, J. Polgar and Short).

All games from the match Kasparov – Kramnik are annotated by the actors themselves. Anand annotated all games from the final match versus Shirov. There are over 200 games from the Chess Olympiad in Istanbul, more than 70 best games from New Delhi and over 50 best games from Wijk aan Zee, the strongest tournament played in this period.

The Olympiad in Istanbul, New Delhi, Wijk aan Zee, Belgrade, Yerevan, Hoogeveen, Hastings, Bermuda, and matches: Kramnik-Kasparov, Anand-Shirov, Kramnik-Leko, Gurevich-Bologan - total of 1175 games plus 27 original beautiful combinations and 18 endings). As its modest contribution, Chess Informant 80 celebrates the 80th birthday of Vasily Smyslov giving a selection of his rich creative opus
